Evolution Dance Theater
Evolution Dance Theater (EDT) is the leading organization for collaborative exchange between the professional modern dance community, students of dance, and patrons of the art form; creating an environment that encourages exploration and learning while inspiring the next generation of modern dancers and dance lovers.

Evolution Dance Theater consists of three distinct but interwoven environments:

* classrooms of regularly scheduled dance instruction employing experienced teaching artists and providing integrative training in modern and ballet techniques;
* visiting choreographers are infused into the learning environment through performances, master classes, open rehearsals and exchanges with the community; at the same time, choreographers are encouraged to utilize their residency at EDT to develop new work in a exploratory environment;
* a performance space is home to visiting artists, students, and the community; within this intimate space, these groups are encouraged to present, participate in and view cutting edge choreography.

EDT teaching artists have collectively danced with many of the finest dance companies in the world and studied with some of the most renowned teachers and choreographers. Companies include American Ballet Theater, the Joffrey Ballet, and The Washington, San Francisco and Boston Ballet Companies. Some of the contemporary choreographers our artists have danced with include Mark Morris, Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, Michael Bennet, Gregory Hines, Claire Porter, Stephen Koplowitz, Heidi Latsky and Dan Wagoner as well as other greats such as George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins and Agnes de Mille. Some are relatively new to the tri-state area, while others have a loyal following of devoted students developed over many years. They constitute a team of gifted professionals who believe in each other and in the mission of EDT.
